Hollywood writers went on strike last night, Monday, May 1, after failing to reach an agreement with the television studios. The writers want higher minimum pay and new policies that address the increased precarity resulting in a transition from broadcast television to streaming services, as well as protection of their intellectual property in an age of expanding AI. Workers picketed in LA and NY on Tuesday, May 2.
