As we prepare for the upcoming contract struggle here at CUNY, we should remember that there are thousands of other City employees in the same boat as us. Most of NYC’s 300 thousand unionized employees are currently working under expired contracts. The Adams administration has stalled on delivering desperately needed raises while simultaneously trying to dismantle retiree healthcare. This frustrating situation presents us with a golden opportunity to build solidarity with our comrades throughout NYC. Only together can we stand up to Adams’s austerity regime.
