Notes from December 2025 GC Labor Management Meeting

We returned to a few items from prior meetings:

  • Support for targeted faculty: in the spring the Center for Teaching and Learning may lead a relevant workshop
  • Time and Leave system coming in January 2026
  • Further discussion of changes to remote work agreements for staff, requests for more flexibility. Management is having discussion about these issues without inclusion of HEOs, were asked to include workers in these discussions in the future.
  • 5th Year Experience Fellowship: again stressed that labor does not want to see a workload increase with new opportunities. Next year will be year 3 of the rollout when there will be a promised assessment of the program.

Title VI and agreements with Office for Civil Rights: Labor is concerned about this resolution and what information has been shared with OCR.

GC Support for Fired Four: Management draws distinction between those that are part of the GC community and those that are not.

Title VI mandated trainings for Full Timers: Labor faculty members expressed dismay over the content of the training, including the treatment of campus protest. Labor asked for a potential pause on using this training, and Management said they had not reviewed it yet personally, but expected CUNY to revise. Josh Brumberg would like bullet points outlining the problems in the training.

Management said that Title VI training is only for full time workers, despite who may receive emails telling them to take the training (everyone got email instructions but only FT staff and faculty are required to take the training).
