From 1847 to 1975, higher education was free at the City University of New York. It’s time to bring it back.

A City Council task force on higher education is due to issue a report by October 15th to Mayor Bill Deblasio and Council Speaker Melissa Mark Viverito on the possibility of making CUNY free again.

Let’s make sure that they do the right thing.

• The right to a free, high-quality higher education at CUNY for all New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status.
• Increased funding CUNY so that public higher education will no longer be separate and unequal.
• Stipends to make sure poverty doesn’t hold back any student fromsuccess.
• An end to adjunct professor poverty– an increase in pay to $7,000 per course, on parity with full-time professor wages.
