Calling all new Graduate Workers! New York State law mandates that all public sector employees are entitled to a one-hour union orientation during work hours. Because graduate students are part-time employees of CUNY, this means you are PAID to attend these orientations at the non-teaching adjunct rate ($45). That can buy you an entire sandwich in Midtown.
Aside from this glorious perk, the orientations are a great opportunity to meet your union reps, learn about your rights in the workplace, and maybe even make some friends (dare we say, comrades).
